The Sanitary Sewer Wet Weather Evaluation project will:
- measure how much the Footing Drain Disconnection program reduced stormwater flow to the sanitary system.
- assess the risk of sewer backups in the City.
- research and evaluate new ways to control the impacts of stormwater on the sanitary system.
- recommend the method(s) to further reduce wet weather impacts to the sanitary system.
Major tasks for the project include: system flow monitoring; updating the City's existing sanitary model; evaluating the effectiveness of the past FDD program; identifying alternatives for mitigating wet weather flow in the sanitary sewer system; recommending a method(s) of mitigation; as well as public engagement throughout the project.

Public engagement will continue throughout the duration of the project.
A series of public meetings during the study to discuss the project will be held. The first of these meetings will be held on April 23rd at the Tappan Middle School Media Center at 6:30 p.m.

Phase I portion of the multi-family footing drain disconnection work has been completed at the
Pinelake Village. This work consisted of installing two sumps and two sump pumps,
each operating by the usage of independent float switches provided with the sump pumps.
These two sump pumps were installed at different elevations to allow one pump to operate
under all but the highest flows.
We will be deploying monitors and will be evaluating the flows for a period of 2-4 months.
